Managing Nausea and Vomiting in Patients With Cancer: What Works

Recent research shows olanzapine may be an effective agent for the preventing and treating of chemo-induced nausea. Published in Oncology Journal, “A number of neurokinin-1 receptor antagonists and 5-hydroxytryptamine type 3 receptor antagonists, along with dexamethasone, have proven effective at preventing chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting; however, none of these agents have been effective at preventing nausea. The addition of olanzapine to a prophylactic regimen has been shown to provide very good control of nausea as well as vomiting.”
