Gastric Cancer Foundation Sponsors Online Forum for Patients & Family Members

You are not alone.  Gastric Cancer Foundation helps connects patients and family members to people who are on a similar cancer journey.

Gastric Cancer Foundation’s online community, provided by the Gastric Cancer Foundation in partnership with Smart Patients, makes it easy for patients and their families to find and discuss information about gastric cancer, treatment options, side effects and the emotional challenges of coping with this difficult diagnosis.

In the spirit of community, you can both give and get support. You’re in charge.

The online community conversations are patient-driven and aimed at empowering and educating people affected by the disease.  Members are free to share, interact and learn from each other in a safe and supportive environment—and at no cost.

Online Communities Offer Support and Let People Share Experiences

Patient-led sites that offer support, information, moderated forums, blogs, and advice have become all the rage. According to an article in the April 18, 2018 issue of Stanford Social Innovation Review, “Platforms that provide a way for patients, caregivers, and health-care staff to share stories and develop solutions … are disrupting traditional hierarchies in medicine.”

Through the power of conversation, members can learn more than they would on their own.  Jennifer Dunne, Director of Operations at Smart Patients, believes patients are the most underutilized resource in healthcare.  “The next tipping point in medicine includes tapping into the knowledge created by networks of engaged patients.”
