Association between CHFR gene hypermethylation and gastric cancer risk: a meta-analysis

A meta-analysis shows methylation of CHFR is significantly associated with increased risk of gastric cancer. Methylation changes the activity of a DNA segment without changing the sequence and can repress gene transcription. Researchers suggest that CHFR methylation might be a promising biomarker for gastric cancer diagnosis.
