The Gastric Cancer Foundation celebrated its 10th Anniversary during A Cause For Hope on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at the Peninsula Country Club in San Mateo, California. With 200 supporters attending, more than $250,000 was raised to fund important patient programs and critical stomach cancer research. Jeff Netzer GCF Board member and event chair, served as emcee for the evening and led guests through an incredible night celebrating progress, honoring champions of the cause, and preparing everyone for the exciting work that lies ahead.
Paul Gottsegen and Alice Leung serving as board co-chairs presented the organization’s inaugural “Champions of Hope” awards to four very deserving individuals: Ron and Diane Weintraub, Hans Rueffert and Dr. Mohamad El-Zaatari, PhD. “Through the Champion of Hope Awards, we honor and recognize individuals who have gone above-and-beyond to support this important cause,” said Alice Leung, co-chair. “From passionate advocacy to personal giving to incredible advancements in research, these people make extraordinary contributions to progress.” “For all they do, we are proud to honor these four very special individuals with our inaugural awards” added Gottsegen. “I’m proud to know that our foundation will continue its commitment to providing much needed hope, and ultimately defeating gastric cancer through honoring the legacy of my dear friend JP Gallagher, who founded the organization.”
